For the TV network you need to be careful to use the right Coax cable as not all Coax cable is born equal. You need to use 75 Ohm CT100 Sky approved digital Coax. This cable has a 1mm inner conductor and is double screened. This means that that it has a stranded copper outer brade and it has a foil insulation. This is superior to the basic TV Coax that you will find in most houses and DIY stores. Coax cable has an insulation layer between the inner conductor and the outer brade. Some cheaper cables use a plastic insulator which has empty chambers that use less plastic and are therefore cheaper. However, this sort of cable can kink when being installed and snap the inner conductor. The better cable to use has a solid insulator which is more resistent to kinking. You need to run one Coax cable to each TV point in the house. The TV distribution system can put all the TV signals you need down this one cable and your TV will be able to tune into each signal. However, some people run two cables to each TV point so that there is a spare in case one is broken or you want a second cable to send a signal back to the TV system. I recommend running two Coax cables to each room for this reason. Also, if you are using Sky or cable you will need to run two cables from the TV system to the room that houses the Sky/Cable Set top box. If you use Sky+ you will need three cables run to the room that houses the Sky+ Set top box.

If you found the above paragraph confusing and you want to cover all options, do the following:-
Run two Coax cables to each room with the exception of the room that houses the Sky/Cable Set Top box. To this room run 3.

You also need to run Coax cable from the incoming services to your central location. For your antennas these will be located on the roof. Of course there is also the Sky Dish. If you are using Cable TV, this will come in at street level. Let's deal with the Antennas first. You have a couple of options here.
For normal terrestrial TV including FreeView you need 1 x Coax from the antenna to the central location.
For an FM Antenna you will need 1 x Coax from the antenna to the central location.
For a Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) Antenna you will need 1 x Coax from the antenna to the central location.

Now let's deal with Sky. For basic Sky Digital you will need only 1 x Coax from the Dish to the central location. For Sky+ you will need 2 x Coax from the Dish to the central location. If you plan to have a Sky Digital set top box and a Sky+ set top box you will need what is know as a Quad LNB Dish and this can cater for 4 x Coax from the dish to the central location.

Again, if you are unsure and you want to cater for all eventuallities you can see that the 7 x Coax from the roof to the central location will cover you. If you have not got all your antennas sorted out, you can simply run these cables to the loft. Leave plenty of excee cable up there and get a Sky approved installer to come and connect the cable to the Antennas and the Dish.

If you are using cable TV you will need to run 1 x Coax cable from where the cable set top box is to be located to where you think the cable TV company will enter your property.
